We’ve been toying with a mix of art and technology for some time. The idea was to create clean, authentic style for those who don’t just walk the path of life – they stomp it and leave footprints. That’s what led to Oakley FUEL CELL™. The idea here is unflinching originality and a smooth look. It’s proof that when authenticity speaks for itself, it speaks with volume.

The two lenses are actually cut from a single shield of optically pure PLUTONITE® then placed in the frame to maintain the original, continuous contour. An innovation of HIGH DEFINITION OPTICS® (HDO®), POLARIC ELLIPSOID™ lens geometry extends clarity all the way to your peripheral view, exceeding ANSI Z87.1 optical standards. Impact protection meets all ANSI Z87.1 basic standards while UV filtering is an unbeatable 100% for every single ray of UVA, UVB and UVC. The lens curvature and frame architecture improve side protection, and durable yet lightweight O MATTER® frame material maximizes comfort with a perfect Three-Point Fit.

Think of our polarization as a glare kill switch that’s always on. Oakley HDPolarized lenses are an option for FUEL CELL, and they block 99% of those irritating rays that interfere with vision. If you weren’t born with perfect eyes, no sweat – FUEL CELL is available with Oakley Authentic Prescription Lenses (+2.00 through -4.00 combined power). You’ll also see “IRIDIUM®” in the list of optional lenses. It’s a permanent coating that tunes and balances light while reducing glare.

Our very first dual-lens sunglass was called FROGSKIN™, and ever since, we’ve had a thing for leapfrogging the competition. We even had a mascot Frog named “Jupiter” for a while. The green and yellow of his slippery skin (along with the red of his eyes) inspired the colors of our Jupiter Camo Collection.

This unique edition has urban attitude, street style, and a weird thing for amphibians. It’s the Jupiter Camo FUEL CELL™ and it pays homage to a mascot frog that inspired our original FROGSKIN™ sunglasses. His name was Max Fear Light and he lived in a futuristic bunker, shielded from the blazing radiation of a sun gone ballistic. It was a campaign we created years ago to honor the 100% UV filtering of our Plutonite® lens material. We’re bringing it back with this special edition. The Polished Black frame carries icons of solar orange, and the earstems have graphics from the original ad. To protect your eyes from the blinding rays of a sun in full blitz, we matched the frame with Black Iridium® lenses that balance light transmission to help you maintain color recognition. We also created a custom Microclear™ bag to go along with this edition, and it’s handy for stowing the frame and cleaning the lenses.

Fuel Cell - Don Pendleton - Matt Dark Grey - Warm Grey : Product Information:
Don Pendleton is an American artist, designer and illustrator out of Dayton, OH. He was born and raised in Ravenswood, WV where, while being influenced by his father’s art, he started drawing at the age of 9 and began skateboarding at the age of 14. After securing some sponsors, he went through the amateur ranks of skateboarding, competing and doing demos through the midwest and east coast. An ankle injury in 1992 shifted his focus back to artwork and he completed a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Arts at Marshall University in the spring of 2004. Pendleton took all the art jobs he could find in an effort to build his portfolio and worked at several newspapers and publications, focusing on layout, design and illustration during the mid-90s where much of his current style was developed.
